FRIENDS OF ROYAL LYVER
THE LIFE AND TIMES OF STAN WEBB
FIRST PERMANENT CHAIRMAN OF THE
COMMITTEE OF MANAGEMENT OF
ROYAL LIVER FRIENDLY SOCIETY
Member of the Liver CoM – 1962 – 1976
Chairman of the Liver CoM – 1971 – 1976
The purpose of this article is primarily to seek to do justice to the substantial and, in some areas, unequalled, contribution to the Society by Stanley [Arthur] Webb. Stan Webb is most remembered as the First Permanent Chairman of the Committee of Management (CoM) of Royal Liver – a position to which he was installed in 1971. Therefore, its only natural that this article will seek to cover Stan’s Chairmanship during the difficult times of the early to mid- 1970s (when the Society’s finances were put under considerable pressure due, amongst other things, to the circumstances in the wider UK and World economies at the time).
